I get the comment, as I live in LA and the area of Bel Air has no encampments, but there are plenty of middle-class areas that do. I saw a guy take a poop while on his phone at Sunset Blvd and Fairfax, right across from an upscale market. Homes in the area are in the millions. Rightful collective outrage is deemed as uncompassionate NIMBYism. There are encampments in front of the shuttered Sam Ash store on Sunset Blvd. While I am a free market advocate, to preserve the vibe, it would have been great for Nithya Raman to have made some attempts to prevent Sam Ash's guitar and drum stores closures because they were part of Sunset Blvd history. I see the tour buses in the area and wonder what the riders make of the chaos. As an interesting side note, Trader Joe's does not have security. I appreciate that fact. There is a peacefulness to TJs where everyone seems to understand that we are to be polite to one another. I bet their theft rate is significantly lower than the stores with SWAT-looking teams. Vibe matters.
