Supervisor Cheryl brought a motion before the Board of Supervisors to suspend Commissioner Palmer from the Sheriff oversight commission, calling it "a straightforward matter." She argued that anyone appointed to serve San Francisco must uphold the position with integrity, and that abusing power forfeits the right to continue in public service. Citing the Inspector General's office, she told colleagues: "We have clear evidence from the Inspector General's office that multiple instances of official misconduct happened." The motion directs the Ethics Commission to take up the charges, forcing a recorded board vote on whether a public official found to have abused power should keep a seat on a law enforcement oversight body.
