Brilliant analysis, Garry. The car center exile's an obvious ploy to increase friction for everyday travelers seeking their most favorable transport option. Not exactly an open market compared to the nearby San Jose Mineta airport. But you actually highlighted how current the "Last 100 Feet" friction is being exploited by officials. An AV might stop if it's confused by waving hand signals, creating more traffic & potentially blocking emergency vehicles as well. If the models used to train AVs can include the hyper accurate micro data needed to distinguish actual obstacles from true call to actions, local leaders will have no excuse to go against public demand. I've already removed this "Last 100 Feet" problem completely, and in a way that also Elevates the Gig Drivers politicians use as pawns. I sent you note earlier this week about how I've ended the shady games local leaders are playing. Let me know if you've seen it & would like to support the full potential of AVs as well as the gig community in the process.
